‘Shah Hussain’ was his chosen baptismal name,

Ironically neither any kingdom nor Prophet’s lineage he could claim.

A plethora of words was his chattel,

Though for some he was a mere prattle.

His visit to the temple was to be quotidian,

But that day he was tricked magically by Gwydion.

He locked his eyes with the most alluring ones,

And that moment forth his heart was someone’s.

His prepossessing face and that ingratiating smile,

Shah started prinking himself, which surely took a while.

Ultimately Shah’s assiduous efforts bore fruit,

The heart of his heart’s thief was his loot.

Their fingers intertwined and so did their hearts,

Little did they know this ardour will make them stalwarts.

An impeccably immaculate nonpareil love,

As heavenly as the very Almighty above.

Ultimately for them the world had to bow down,

But the love their kind, still meets frowns.

As Shah’s love was divine BUT phallic,

Even today love this kind, meets ends tragic.

Madho venerated Ram and Allah had Shah’s reverence,

Still tonight both lie abreast with benevolence.

Allah and Ram on them blessings still bestow,

Their love, in those outcast dungeons like a light still glows.

Their proclivity was impervious to the human divide and the worldly ways,

These luminaries won’t lead any ‘recherché’ lover astray.

P.S.

My soul is entangled with the indifferent one

Lord of all things visible and invisible

-Madho Lal Hussain
